10 British Artists to Watch in 2015

1. OSCA

Based in South London, the members: Jack, Dom, Sean and Alex, met at school and university. They have recently spent time recording in New Cross, South East London and have been working towards their first EP which is due out in mid July. The band have featured on Zane Lowe’s Next Hype on Radio 1 with their track “Blood”, the first they uploaded on Soundcloud.

Their new track “Sleeptalk” demonstrates why we think they will be a big name in the music industry this year.

2. Bleanavon

The band, consisting of: Frank, Gregory and Harris from Liss, Hampshire, produced a lot of excitement in 2013 when they first appeared on the scene but since then they have been fairly quiet, until now! I went along on the 5th of February to see them preform in the Barfly, Camden, where they teased the crowd with some new material that we hope will be available later this year!

Back in 2013, Bleanavon were also involved with Mahogany Sessions, doing a stripped back version of their song “Prague”. We have attached the original for you to listen to below.

3. SOAK

What a talent this 18 year old from Derry is. With the most beautiful voice the singer/songwriter is causing a stir in the music industry. She is currently on her UK tour and was recently announced to be part of ‘The Great Escape” festival in may, SOAK’s year has started with a bang! In addition to that, she made Radio 1’s ‘Track of the Day’ on the 5th of February for Sea Creatures, her latest single.

4. Circa Waves

Circa Waves

Liverpool based Circa Waves consists of: Kieran Shudall, Sam Rourke, Sian Plummer and Joe Falconer. They have previously been compared to Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes but supported: The Libertines, Interpol, Royal Blood and Phoenix.
With a debut album scheduled for the 30th March, big things are expected from it! Zane Lowe picked up on the song “Young Chasers” last year and it was played in his ‘Next Hype’ playlist. The single was played before Circa Waves had actually got together but they soon they were touring the UK and causing a lot of attention in the music industry.

5. The Intermission Project

Two former primary school friends: Jim Rubaduka and Alex Stevens, reunited at Sixth Form College through their love of music. The two talented singer/songwriters were joined by Charlie Campbell on drums and formed the Kent based, ‘The Intermission Project’ in 2011.
Their music is a folky/alternative dominated by acoustic guitars and the soulful voice of Jim.
Having released an EP about a year ago, The Intermission Project have been fairly quiet, only doing the occasional festival/gig. Their latest was in the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, London. However, it’s looking like we may hear much more from them in 2015, so defiantly worth watching out for!

With a debut album on the way, we expect big things from Amber Run who’s single ‘I Found’ stacked up about 600K listens on Spotify to date.

7. Jack Garratt

What a talent this guy is! Both Lemarl and myself have been to see Jack Preform live on different occasions, we have even featured him on Noctown previously. I saw Jack Preform at Radio 1’s Future Music Festival, 2015 where, for me, he was by far the most promising looking artist there. From Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire, Jack has caused a huge ripple in the pond of new talent for this year. He released an EP ‘Remnants’ late last year and since then has gone from strength to strength with his latest track ‘The Love You’re Given’. After his appearance on Radio 1’s Future Festival, he immediately sold out his gig at The Village, Shoreditch.

Keep up the good work Mr Garratt, we look forward to hearing what you have to offer us this year!

8. Ady Suleiman

It was around this time two years ago when I first saw the teenager, Ady Suleiman from Grantham, Lincolnshire, preform at The Social, London. At the time he was wanted by every single record label out there. He told each representative that he didn’t want to rush anything and that he was keen to finish his studying first. A mature decision for a young man. Well now he is all go, his first release ‘So Lost’ through Simco or ‘Syco’ as it is known (a joint venture between Simon Cowell and Sony Music) shows the youngster is moving on to bigger things. Released on to Spotify late last week, Ady had already drawn attention with his new sound, moving on from the acoustic based tracks to a more minimal electro sound. We love it!

9. Aquilo

We featured Aquilo back in December and feel its important they are on the list of Artists to watch in 2015. The duet consisting of Tom and Ben from Silverdale, Lancashire, released their debut EP 10 months ago and received a large amount of praise, mainly for the song ‘You There’. Since their debut EP they have released the tracks ‘I Gave It All’ and ‘Human’.

This post from Aquilo’s facebook on the 6th February suggests that a big year lies ahead for the duet:

“Big day for us tomorrow, we’re off to LA to work on some new music. It all seems a little bit surreal. We’re back for our UK tour in March. Hopefully see you there!”

10. Years and Years

What a huge impact these guys have already had. Possibly the biggest we have featured on this years list, however, we feel they are rightly noted. Years and Years is made up of Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen. Signed by Polydor and nominated for the Brit Award for Critics Choice the trio from London have a massive year ahead of them. Their single ‘Desire’ has already clocked up early 4million listens on Spotify and their new single ‘King’ (selected as hottest record of the day on the Zane Lowe show) comes out on the 1st of March, promising to have similar success.
